Creating Project Lucy Furniture was as much about designing a unique line of furniture as it was about pushing the limits of what a material can do which was a big learning experience for both us and the manufacturers.



Ray reacts to life. Ray connects with other Rays.
Rays is an infintity of forms and it`s not limited by size.

When working with Ray the design and technical side was very tightly interwoven meaning that we would have a discussion on how both sides could influence the final product as well as making sure that the design would be feasible in the end.

Having access to all the rapid prototyping tools meant that we were able to go from idea to design, prototyping and testing in a short matter of time and see what would actually work.

  • CNC

    CNC (Computer Numerical Control) is a milling and cutting machine for various hard materials, such as wood, composites, aluminium, steel, plastics and foams.

  • Laser cutter

    Laser cutter is used for cutting and engraving on various materials such as wood, metal, leather, textile and plastics.

  • Vinyl cutting

    A vinyl cutter (or vinyl plotter) is a computer-controlled plotting device with a blade instead of a pen. A vector based design is created in a software program (usually Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw) and then sent to the cutter where it cuts along the vector paths laid out in the design. The cutter is capable of moving the blade on an X and Y axis over the material, cutting it into any shape imaginable. Since the vinyl material comes in long rolls, projects with significant length like banners or billboards can be easily cut as well.

  • Casting

    Casting is a manufacturing process in which a liquid material is usually poured into a mold, which contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape, and then allowed to solidify. The solidified part is also known as a casting, which is ejected or broken out of the mold to complete the process. Casting materials are usually metals or various cold setting materials that cure after mixing two or more components together; examples are epoxy, concrete, plaster and clay. Casting is most often used for making complex shapes that would be otherwise difficult or uneconomical to make by other methods.

  • Textile & 2D

    Neuni lab workshop space is perfect for experimentation on textile and 2D materials.

  • Electronic station

    Our electronic station is equipped for Arduino programming.
    Arduino is an open-source project that created microcontroller-based kits for building digital devices and interactive objects that can sense and control physical devices.

  • AR/VR

    Our VR station is equipped for Virtual Reality content creation and testing.

  • 3D printing

    3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing (AM), refers to processes used to synthesize a three-dimensional object in which successive layers of material are formed under computer control to create an object.
    At Neuni lab, we are equipped in both industrial and desktop machines producing prints in PLA, SLA, FDM and Nylon.

  • 3D scaning

    3D scanning is the process of capturing digital information about the shape of an object with equipment that uses a laser or light to measure the distance between the scanner and the object. 3D scanning is also known as 3D Imaging, Laser Scanning, Laser Digitizing, and Digital Shape Sampling & Processing (DSSP). 3D scanning can capture data of very small objects all the way up to full size aircraft and buildings.
